That’s absolutely mint.
I hope they got a good trade in on it.
What Fabia did they go for?
Just had a look at the Skoda au website. the number of cars is smaller and the specs, well two specs for the Fabia, one for the Superb, etc... not many engine options.
Is it the import tax that’s keeping the selection down and just semi-bulk importing ones Skoda think will sell the most?

The Parentals had an’87 almost like that, same colors even, except quattro and 5-speed. iirc it was as reliable as it was unexciting...completely competent but no heart-pounding. I did startle my sister’s bf pretty darn good one time going steep uphill on a narrow gravel road, though. *drift* ;-) Was before awd became part of the collective consciousness lol
Were you thinking of scoring this one? Looks about as clean as the p&m’s did when they sold it back in 1992...

as for trade in , i think he got $1500-$2K
as for which Fabia he bought, no idea.
i think they do import a limited selection as to what they think will sell, no import taxes on the Skoda Fabia as they are under the luxury car tax threshold.

Ouch. That’s what some in the U.K. are doing as a base trade in for running cars.
The Octavia comes in good spec but only one petrol and one diesel for each spec.
I think Skoda would do a lot better if it offered more choice but then again we in the U.K. get less choice than Europe as we don’t get the 1.8TSi I’d of loved for Piglet.

if we had the all the different motors on offer , the distributor would have to carry a far bigger range with different colour combos , plus being down under , the time it takes between ordering to building and shipping , then to clear customs.

ye’, the lead time to Oz would add another two weeks approximately.
Then again VAG could always get the Chinese plants to make RHDs if they don’t already.
They make the full range.

I think you might need to buy this, seeing it is mint and I can’t imagine loads of those still being around.

Did they trade that in on a new car? Even if not, it blows my mind that someone would keep a car for 28 years and then randomly trade it in. I guess you gotta let go sometime?

Buy it. Seriously, it might be the best original one remaining in the country. These are hen’s teeth in Murka, even in gentle west coast climates, and survivors tend to be less than pristine. If you could get it for something near that trade in value (which with the strong greenback, is about the price of a nice lunch), it’d be worth keeping. I’d really be tempted if it was in front of me.

What kind of trade value would that have?
